When PKR to NOK is settled, you may be left with Norwegian coins and notes in hand. In Norway, they have almost the same values as in Pakistan: The coins are 1, 5, 10 and 20 kroner. King Harald the 5th adorns three of them. On the green 50 kroner note is a picture of the writer Peter Christen Asbjørnsen (1812-1885). The 100 kroner note is red and has a portrait of Kirsten Flagstad (1895-1962). She was an internationally famous soprano and is considered by many to be one of the best-known Norwegian women of all time. On the blue 200 kroner sits the physics professor Kristian Birkeland (1867-1917), who was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Chemistry several times, but without receiving it. On the other hand, Sigrid Undset (1892-1949) did, who can be found on the orange 500 kroner note. She was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1928 for her novels about Kristin Lavransdatter. Those interested in art in particular will recognize the man portrayed on the Norwegian 100 kroner. It is the artist Edvard Munch (1863-1944) who is probably best known for having painted “The Scream”, which is exhibited at the National Museum in Oslo.
